Comments: I haven't done this route, but if you rotate this photo 90 degrees clockwise, you can really get a feeling for the exposure.

Comments: Climbed here in August and I loved it. The Park service had just repaved the campground roads. The camping was excellent. FYI, I heard that there is some "master plan" that will close the camp ground, supposedly because of water pollution to the river that flows through the monument. I heard that this is all pollittically motivated attempt to close a public camp ground. Anyone else know anything?

Comments: Nice picture.
I don't know this area, but that sure looks like a bolt, 2 - 3 feet below a protectable crack?

Comments: Seeing these pics of Shockley's is great. The look down perspective of the roof move gives you a new feel for Gunks climbing.
I have always thought that the crux of this climb are the final top out moves, rounded, steep and they sneak up on you after you have done the roof pull.
This climb used to be rated 5.5!
Whatever the grade, nice pics, cool climb.

Comments: The photo is great, what a time capsule. How about the blue pin-striped collar shirt, with the brown sweater? Standard issue prep school look.
Great days.

Comments: I see way too many people belaying and not tied in, it boggles the mind how many climbers are ignorant of such basic rope skills.

Great times.

Comments: Pegasus is a great lead, w/great gear. If you lieback where the climber is in this pic, the route is 5.8++
As oppesed to climbing the face on the right, 5.8 (easier)

Comments: Nice to see Connecticut on this site. However, climbers new to the area should know that most of the classic lines on the major crags SHOULD be led. As mentioned before, CT has a long climbing history and that history was written on the lead. Yes it's strenuous etc., but that's what makes CT climbing so great.
