Comments: This is from 2007 and things have changed over the years.

Update 6/10/2016

1) Last week I was by Sax Wall and 50 climbers were climbing on these 'unaesthetic' climbs. Everyone was having a great time. Currently probably the hottest climbing spot in Minnesota. Please take care of it for everyone for all ages.
2) The bolt in question is 5 inches into the wall with Hilti epoxy. Thor couldn't pull it out
3) I bolt protected all cruxes in ... more >>

Comments: Please do not dry tool on Diagonals and Sax Wall. If you do then do it with the long time traditional old standing rules of using webbing top ropes.

WHY? Well Red Wing is a slime fest and Sand Stone is super popular and dry tooling is totally destroying sport climbing in Minnesota. The hardware I installed was meant for sport climbers and top ropers to be enjoyed for ages. Dry tooling destroys. If both Red Wing and Sandstone get destroyed, then where do 80% of the climbers go?

Thanks,
dreez

Comments: Well the dry toolers decided to hack this route up. Suggestion: I think Sigma has some cool moves on it, try hacking on it for a change.

Comments: Originally I had fixed gear in place so the kids would not steal the gear. So I didn't want anyone to rap on them because it was a bitch to replace. Now with the steel biners and quicklinked hangers, they are all replaceable so feel free to rap on them.

Just no drytooling on the gear, use webbing like the old days.

Comments: There is some climb to the right of this looks 5.10'ish top is hard. I think the book has mixed up these 3 climbs. Negative, Fish and the one 20 feet to the right.

Comments: So this is the story. We showed up April 2nd, no one around. We asked at Desert Rat. You have to call and sync with the owner Morris. He was setting up for the season and is in/out. So April 4th we called 435-574-2300, Morris answered and met us at the front. Super nice older guy. He is the owner and leases the wall to the Utah Climber club. He showed us how to drive through the side entrance. We had the whole place to ourselves, perfect day. $9.

Comments: Wow, this place looks fantastic. Multiple shark fin type limestone walls reminds me of a mini-Potrero Chico. You could put 100s of climbs in here. Was pretty just to go see.

Comments: You can TR all the easy climbs so great for beginners. faces S/SW so pretty hot in summer. Look out for wasp nests, my GF got hit by a flock of them and swelled up.

Main wall looks really hard, all the holds are smooth/slopey. Can't TR.

Comments: This is 50 feet to left of big time as stated.

I really suck at slab, and this was cakewalk. 1 move in middle was a bit hard that I pulled on draw and hung and then did it after found the foothold.

Comments: I have never been here and have no book...and its hard to get lost.

You can now drive up trailhead 3 minutes from the rock. AND they have installed signs to all the classic climbs on the trail. If you get lost you must of not gotten out of 1st grade.

This is fantastic. Just like climbing in Europe or Muir Valley Red River Gorge.

Comments: The State is really spiffing the place up. New bathrooms. You can now drive right up to Castle Rock formation (3 minute walk).

Get this, They even have SIGNS that direct you to all the classic climbs as you hike around the trail.

Fantastic! Almost like climbing in Europe.

$5 day use fee but well worth it.

Comments: I thought the crux was 1/2 up when it goes vertical. Several tiny crimps and finger pockets in between bolts usually mean 5.10 moves, not 5.9. You will be pumped when done. Great route.
