Looking back on the NW ridge of Chopicalqui. Alan Doak belaying Stefan Griebel from a butt seat anchor. Prior night's campsite was on the shoulder at the end of the ridge. <br /> <br />"People think I'm crazy, but when I'm on a ridge with a 500' drop to my left and a 1000' drop to my right, I do what any sane person would do. I stay closer to the left side." -Jeff Lowe?  Heading up the NW ridge of Chopicalqui, route descends the standard SW ridge on the other side. This route is rarely climbed, very commiting, and the summit ridge may be considerably harder depending upon whether or not the snow features are intact.
