Comments: multiple variations on TC necessitate different sized racks.. and of these variations, different conditions will require potentially more gear. THis is pretty obvious for seasoned cascade climbers but something I grew an appreciation for only just recently.. a couple weekends ago I solo'd the whole route with a buddy (cakewalk); last Friday it was the most heads up lead of my life getting into the 3rd couloir w/a single twin and LIGHt alpine rack. happy I had my nomics. Conditions c... more >>

Comments: I'm not a badass free climber or anything and we got it done in 4.5 hrs base to summit with a bit of simulclimbing up to 5.8 and short-fixing the pitches low on the route. Fixed anchors made this easy on us. If you want to enchain with Thin Red Line as we did (which for comparison took us 8-9 hrs), look into possibly rappelling back to the base instead of hiking off the back then to the black asphalt road (HOT!!!!), which took 3.5 hrs from the notch at the base of the becky route to the star... more >>

Comments: i read some posts about the 5.9 squeeze chimney being the crux. I climbed the route yesterday and found all the chimneys to be well protected. I forget what pitch it is, but at some point you have the option between 5.9 or "airy" 5.7. I did the 5.7 and found it very enjoyable with good fixed gear. A purple c3 took a body-weight placement for the "C1+" on the 2nd to last pitch. I found the crux was actually reaching to clip a piece of tat hanging off of one of one of the penji points on tha... more >>

Comments: HEADS UP for anyone using Supertopo on Pos Vibes / Sun Spot... McNamara is usually right on with his beta; however, I would have been better off throwing his ridge beta out the window and just stuck with my nose on this one. Supertopo says, "... keep to the ridge for the best rock or drop down onto the N (left) side for easier climbing but looser rock.." I don't advise dropping onto the N side by any means until AFTER you stick to the ridge via a 5th class chimney system that sp... more >>
