Comments: To Rampart Range Road? Take CO 67 west out of Sedalia about 10 miles. Can't miss it, top of hill big intersection.

Comments: Ben- pretty sure Glenn was running about down there about the time you were toddling around in diapers. Metropolis was an early must-do, would not be surprised he's done it numerous times.

Comments: D@n- no; top of the route is wet during snowmelt. Leo, not that I've ever seen; but they do form sometimes elsewhere in the park.

Location: CO : Morrison/Evergreen : The Urban Alpine Crag By: Mike Lane When: Sep 17, 2012 | view comment >> |
Comments: Here in the early days of this crag, the routes can't get enough brushing. Feel free to pitch in on some. Blow tubes work surprisingly well too. Meantime, we'll keep working at it. It wouldn't hurt either to take a few minutes and help re-arrange the abundant flat stones into steps and landings. This is a work in progress.

Comments: Agreed, this crag needs some serious scrubbing. Believe it or not, I have already spent quite a bit of time brushing and de-vegetating each route.

Comments: They don't do it to get paid you douche. The point is that with buying Tod's book all the proceeds go right back into development and maintainence. With your pathetic spray all over MP lately, you've implied you have been all over DH, at least enough to know to state this: "which has at least one error on almost every page." To be so well informed, you clearly must have utilized the various trails and clipped lots of bolts. All of which were products of personal expense; both fi... more >>

Comments: It's a glacial erratic. The rock was scooped up elsewhere and dragged along and relocated by the glacier that carved out Devil's Head, T-Ridge, and left the huge, balanced rock down Rampart Range Road.

Comments: Scott - Garrick went through a phase of listing a lot of routes and arbitrarily putting Tom down for the the FA w/out consulting Tom first. I remember that old guide from ages ago. It would be nice for posterity if you ran through the Grocery Store listings and corrected the FAs.

Location: CO : Denver South : Castlewood Canyon SP : Bouldering : Balls and Chains (V5) By: Mike Lane When: Dec 20, 2011 | view comment >> |
Comments: Part of the charm about CWC bouldering is that a big majority of what can be hopped on is not recorded. Tom and I have found unclimbed stuff every time we've gone on a sidehill bushwhack boulder hunt; although the last time we did that was 3 years ago. General key to whether someone has been there before you is if you're brushing lichens and pebbles off of the obvious holds, you've got an FA; if the holds are only dusty probably not. And there's still a good hundred epic prob... more >>

Location: CO : Denver South : Castlewood Canyon SP : The Grocery Store Walls : Banana Peel (5.8) By: Mike Lane When: Nov 15, 2011 | view comment >> |
Comments: There used to be a guide back in the '80s by a guy named Alan Mosiman that was exclusively the Grocery Store area. That is where this rating came from. They were all Colo. Mtn. Club climbers, spent time there in the '60s and '70s. But that last move has always been 10-ish. The best way to get to the anchors on the Tower is to do a handstand on the rim and then kip over the gap to the tower.

Comments: FA: Double D and Gabe R. The Oxyoke fire had begun that day, but those of us in the valley that day had no idea until Todd and Gabe started yelling about it to us from P3 or 4. It looked pretty close, enough for us to pack up and skedattle.
