Location: CO : Alpine Rock : RMNP - Rock : Long's Peak : Upper East Face : Kiener's Route (5.3 Easy Snow) By: David Warriner When: Jul 20, 2003 | view comment >> | Comments: I'm planning on doing this Stettner's to Kiener's the last week of July 2003. Any thoughts on conditions this year. Is it snowy, dry? Is the snow all gone from Broadway? Any options for descent if we decide to bail on the top of Kiener's? As we areplanning to head up Stettner's, I would like to avoid crampons and ice axe.
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Location: CO : Estes Park Valley : Lumpy Ridge : Hen and Chickens : Yosemite Crack (5.9) By: David Warriner When: May 4, 2003 | view comment >> | Comments: Great climb but a total sandbag. I think this was harder than Dementia at Happy Hour which is a 5.10a. Of the few 5.10s I've led, this is harder than any of them and more strenuous.
I got exhausted and I shamelessly rested on my gear. 5.9 A0 for me. Fortunately we had double cams in big sizes or I never would have made it.
On a weird note, when my buddy did it and I seconded it, I went in my approach shoes and found the foot jams to be easier.

Location: CO : Estes Park Valley : Lumpy Ridge : Hen and Chickens : Cackle Crack (5.8) By: David Warriner When: May 4, 2003 | view comment >> | Comments: Did this route last year, thought it was great. The only problem with it is it didn't go on long enough. Great trad 5.8 lead. Belay is too cool.

Location: CO : Boulder : Eldorado Canyon SP : The Bastille : The Bastille - N Face By: David Warriner When: Aug 13, 2002 | view comment >> | Comments: I was climbing on Wind Tower on 8/9/2002 and photographed a party on the Bastille on what *appeared* to be Wide Country (my best guess - it was to the right of the Bastille Crack, and within spitting distance of it at the bottom).
I got some great shots of you guys. One was wearing a bright blue jacket, the other a bright yellow/green jacket. If the party who climbed that route reads this, contact me and I will email you the pictures.

Location: CO : Boulder : Eldorado Canyon SP : The Wind Tower : Wind Tower - SW Face : Wind Ridge (5.8) By: David Warriner When: Aug 13, 2002 | view comment >> | Comments: Did this on 8/9/2002. Great route lots of fun. We thought the 5.8 version was much easier than the "5.7" that is The Bastille Crack. Loved the third pitch in particular.
