Comments: I solo'ed the ridge one beautiful fall day. This is my favorite 4th class route to date. I drank a beer on top (had to try it). The descent was a bit spooky because I got quite a buzz from one beer up there (I came down through stoneman pass). The magnitude of this peak is clear from Black lake... I realized from there after this climb how amazing the human body is to go the distances it does...

Comments: Sounds bad from the description above, but I did this in dry conditions and found it absolutely spectacular. Tons of beautiful class 3 problems on extremely solid rock.I can definitely see how the route would be a pain in wet conditions, however, since many of the problems involve friction on the slabs...

Comments: We did a variation that is popular this year due to the extreme meltout of Lamb's and the ensuing rock fall. You climb to the Loft, walk to the north of it and drop down to the top of the ice. We were able to skirt around the ice, but had to rappel one pitch of rock to make it onto Broadway. It was obvious to me that the excessive rockfall was due to rock and mud that had been held in place for years being exposed from the meltout.

Comments: Try to avoid getting lost in the grass and bushes on this one. Do not step on the bird nests, if possible.

Comments: Not really ice, more snow, but: Got a pretty good view of the upper trough on Longs this weekend. It looks horrible. Forget trying to climb it this spring. It looked like there were spots where the snow was probably not more than 20 feet wide. It will be gone by the end of the month. Last year in late May the snow was 100 yards across at least.

Comments: The continuation from the col on to McHenry's was one of my favorite scrambles last year. Lots of fun class 4 climbing. The route looks pretty scarey from the col, but things open up and the route is pretty obvious up to the summit. A definite must for any class 4 scrambler.

Comments: Ahggg!! Should find the route with slings and rings?? I will never ever never depend on slings that I find. $2 for 3 feet of sling, $2 for a rap ring. $4 == I'm alive. Ok, guess I will....
Don't mean to be disagreeable, just would hate to see someone come along that didn't know better learn to trust other people's slings from this :)

Comments: The crux has got to be the step out of the dihedral on the first pitch. You have to teeter from the left to the right in a dynamic move that places your entire weight on one foot at a small (3 inch) wet/icy ledge as you step up and out of the dihedral. At that moment you are above about 30 feet of air and a decent fall.
