Comments: Pardon the intrusion into the spray, but does anyone else, besides me, believe this route might be less than 12b/c. I thought it was11d, possibly 12a.This route is on par with the best sport routes in the Boulder area. So is the project, at the time of this writing, to the left.

Comments: This route has some of the best splitter cracks I have found in the Park so far. On par with the crux pitch of Topnotch and the splitters on Days of Heaven.Going out the roof that caps the chimney is unbelievable. A great route.

The route description above, which tracks Rossiter's description, did not match quite perfectly for us. We did some non-descript climbing to the right of Crossover Ledge to get to the 4" crack, which takes gear in the back of it. This crack is just to the left of th... more >>

Comments: A route to do for those who have "done everything in Eldo", and are bored. You won't be bored on this route. Good nut craft a must.

Comments: This is one great route. In Malcolm's comments, he rates the first pitch at 5.11+ rather than 11b. I believe the former is more accurate. Thin, a little hard to see the placements at the crux, superlative rock, great climbing.

Comments: The key to doing this route is finding the right atmospheric conditions.Getting there early means probable cold temperatures. Getting there later, means probable lightning storms.I approached this climb three times trying both tactics and was skunked each time. The fourth time was the charm. We arrived early but it was too cold. The day was splitter so we hung out at the base until the sun hit the wall, about 1 p.m. on July 11.

I thought the 3rd pitch contained both the technical and psycho... more >>

Comments: Okay, I'll admit right away that slabs are not my favorite type of climbing. However, by the 4th pitch I felt like I was on a treadmill.Excepting the 3rd pitch, tedious was a word voiced by both my partner & me. However, the position of this route made up for any shortcomings the climbing had for me. The sweeping unbroken nature of this shield of rock is magnificent. Its position high in the cirque left me slack jawed. Further, it is amazing how clean and free of lichen this route is given ... more >>

Comments: Great route. I thought the climbing itself is worthy of perhaps two stars, but the position is magnificent. If you are comfortable soloing 5.4 climbing up and 5.0 climbing down, consider leaving the rope at home. Not reminiscent of the Exum Ridge at all, more of an Ellingwood Ridge on La Plata Peak type route. Heading up the grassy gully on the N. side of Ypsilon Lake was very straightforward and direct.

Comments: Another great link-up is Suparete to Doub-Griffith to Mellow Yellow ("Hello Jello"?). David A. Turner
