Comments: Great photo Brian. On a rainy day, such a beautiful sight is ample compensation for missed climbing time.

Comments: Definitely the best route on the Duomo! Above the Hearth links a nice chunk of continuously difficult climbing. It was cool to see Lance get the second ascent, but we realized that 5.10+ may be a bit (unintentionally) sandbagged. Ben was climbing really well last year, making it hard to tell the difference between 5.11+ and 5.10+. A proud send by both Ben and Lance.

A few long slings help minimize drag at the bottom.

Comments: Well, I've been climbing up there since I was a kid and I've never heard of or seen anyone on that route. You must've done some work. In old photos that was quite the jungle line. Great job Shingo. Another nice Schoolroom option.

Comments: Looks great, is it the FA's intention to leave it with an "X" rating?

Comments: One of the best bolted routes on granite in the Wasatch.

Comments: Its a great route, now much cleaner and totally climbable. Too bad someone took the pin out, would've been a nice piece of history. If people aren't going to send something, there's no point in removing a pin, it is our history, it tells a story.

Comments: Precious Choss has some good climbing, especially the ever-widening third pitch (it's worth climbing the route just for those handstacks). Kudos to Tyler and Luke. However, I have these words of caution:

1. If a party is aleady on the route, strongly consider going elsewhere, as rockfall is a very real and serious issue.

2. Do NOT linger near the bases of any of the routes on Coalpit Buttress (due to rockfall issues).

3. Be very careful on the route as much of the route is surrounded by are... more >>

Comments: One of the funnest routes in the City. Get ready for that last bouldery move at the finish. Take your time. If you cruise the lower section then you've got the technique to do the top problem without having to pull super hard. You can check out the move and retreat back down to the rest. Awesome.

Comments: Four stars. Great route. Direct start is in-your-face tough, probably 5.11ish.

Comments: After reading the comments of "Anonymous Coward" I'm a bit surprised. Years ago I took a 5.13 sport climber up the Coffin and he didn't like it either. He tried to use opposing pressure to force his way through the crux, despite getting solid instruction on jamming. Other than that experience, AC's comments are the only negative words I've heard about the route. The Coffin would be a 3 star route if it was in the crack mecca of Yosemite Valley. Whining about the approach maybe tells the rea... more >>

Location: UT : Wasatch Range : Big Cottonwood Canyon : Glass Ocean and Environs : High Dive (5.9+)

Comments: Repeated this the other day. My two cents: not 3 stars, too discontinuous and wandering. Solid 2 stars for BCC. Does the fact that High Dive tops out merit 3 stars when Glass Ocean is a better line but earns only 2?
