Comments: So nice to hear that despite the accident, JL is cracking jokes and healing up. Part of the reason, I'm quite sure, that he is healing and in good spirits is because of the physical presence of his daughter, other friends, and family. All best to John Long, and his family and friends, and all the climbing community in 2013! Be safe, be considerate, and have fun! P.S. Another thought that could perhaps use its own thread...is there a systematic way to protect the legends of climbing who have g... more >>

Comments: This is a fine and easy lead, a good intro to fist jamming (or perhaps cupped hands?), with great gear. Good small gear can be found on the right wall for the last 1/3 of the route. Bring at least 1 #4 for sure.

Comments: At the very end of the climb (according to this topo) instead of belaying, do one or two more moves and finish on the actual top of the buttress for a nice view of the area. Easy scramble off.

Comments: Stellar route that I've led once and followed once...but... P2 has some dangerously rotten rock, and there is no escaping if it is dislodged. Please, please be careful at the top of P2! I was almost destroyed by a homeplate-sized chunk that exploded in front of me as I hung, helpless, at the belay. Just this past week. After dodging the rocks, and watching them crash down into our packs with a sickening smacking sound, I watched softball-sized bomblets rain down directly onto the tou... more >>

Comments: What was I doing on 1/20/2009? Praying for "Hope and Change" from the anointed one. And what did we get? I deeply regret my vote for Obama. A crag to commemorate BHO's inauguration? How pathetic. At least it's a pile.

Comments: The quality is indeed on par with Panic and Upside, but the climbing is not quite as good. Panic is much more exciting and insecure. Upside the Cranium is twice as long with better position.

Comments: This is a really fun 5.7, thanks to Bernard Gillett and Co for putting it up. Do the "second" pitch...it's great (I led as one pitch). A rap station up high would really improve the route and reduce the erosion in the walk off gully.
