Comments: Roy McClenahan led this the day we did the FA of Cowboy Junkies and I thought it was continuously hard, i.e. hard to start and hard between every bolt. As Murph noted the crux was up high. 11a/b for sure.

Comments: Roy lead the crux (and maybe the whole pitch in one push) on the FA and it was quite proud!

Comments: It was kinda' funny on the day of the FA. We all got to the base and no one jumped up to claim the lead. Maybe the approach had taken something out of us or the look of the route intimidated us. Finally I claimed it and boy was I glad! It was only 10c (well within my leading ability) and mega classic. I'm not sure why what's his name gave less stars, maybe tight undies?

Comments: FA: Rob Stahl, D. Evans, C. Fry, Tom Burke Jan 1990

We also did the start without the tree. I'm glad to hear it's the "easiest 10c in the park!" Maybe it was all the snow on the approach? I've been checking the archive notes and it says "snow covered."

Comments: Correction: Todd must have been confused.

"Remain in Light".... We first called it "The White Arete" but "Remain in Light" was much Better.

Comments: Sibylle Hechtel and I did the second free ascent of this route in July 1977. We did 18 pitches in 9 hours, I led 15 and Sibylle led 3. It was one of my proudest days in the mountains!!!

I thought the FFA was in 1976 but Chris should know.

It was just a couple weeks before Richard Harrison and Jay Smith did the third free ascent.

I'm still kicking myself for not carrying a camera.

Comments: This route should probably be called the "Evans, Cole, Orville." I led the FA with Charles belaying and our third member was Jeff Orville.

Comments: When I did the route , in April 1979 (checking the record book)with, it says Eric, Dean and Roy, who I take to be EE, Bullwinkle and Roy McClenahan (and not Roy Naasz)we called it 10D. So I believe that Randy's rating of 11a isn't that far off. I remember thinking, when I heard "The" hold was gone, "Man, it must be quite a bit harder."

So John's comment makes sense. "The first pitch was never 11a."

Comments: Good shot! When it first popped up I thought "that's Dave" and was stoked to find I was correct.

A great route. I believe this was before "THE" hold broke Off making it significantly harder. I am glad I was there before....
