Comments: As a rule, the lines here are dictated by a clean fall to the water. Bear Claw climbs left from the 2/3 mark onto the exposed white stone with black patina all over it. If you are up high and climbing without the possibility of falling then you are off route.

Comments: Maybe so. I improved the description to inform the leader of the seriousness of the route, with good gear recommendations and the CHOSS disclaimer. Maybe we should let the owner of the second ascent decide?

Comments: Black Swan is a long v6 boulder problem. Pitbull Lipstick is a technique tester, old school 5.11 with a beta intensive v4 in the middle. I've done PL hanging the draws at least three times, but I've yet to send Black Swan.

Comments: I really didn't think I was going to fall until my right foot popped off a micro gas divet. In the moment there just wasn't any time for crafty ideas like that, but after the huge whip I settled into that ideology. I sent all the moves of the climb and then some, but I just didn't clip the chains.

Comments: David is claiming the F.A. on this one so I'll have to tell my story. With David belaying, I punched it through the last crux to the place I planned on clipping the anchor from. I pulled some rope but feared melting while reefing on my left arm to clip. I quickly decided to climb further to an undercling right at the anchor to avoid a stretchy clip up and right. As I matched the undercling a foot popped. My arms made a good effort to hold the undercling as my body began to plunge down but I hadn... more >>

Comments: Being able to toprope this line from the shared anchor with Prosthesis makes figuring out the beta easier. You can also them warm up on Prosthesis, hang the draws on The Recovery on the way down, and then send with minimal efforts.

Comments: I like this climb for a couple reasons. You can toprope it after climbing Off the Couch for a super quick two route warm up, and when it rains it's the only route at the crag that remains dry and climbable.

Comments: Sai Baba is actually on the SE Arete. This is an unnamed problem on the West Face that needs to be added. I think Pinch of Sugar would be fitting for the sandy rock quality on this one. About v5 or 6.

Comments: The original V5 start of this problem climbs up through the miserable crimps to the left of the start described above. Starting with the sidepull lowers the difficulty to V4, but brings the quality up a notch or two.

Comments: Hey CJD....I know the old bolted route with home made hangers you mentioned. I called it "Original Route" in the Lower Solitude area. It's a good route. All the little bolts wiggled in their holes as I trembled my way up it.....so later I came and replaced them with new bolts....and later some anchors. It rarely gets done because it's further up the wall but I still consider it one of the best lines up there. I'd love to know the original name. I'll credit you with the F.A..

Comments: I can't reach the crimp from the heel toe...so I've only done this problem once. Much harder I believe. Looks like a path with the heel/toe.

Comments: I think this is one of those lines that is really striking....but hard because it's painful. It had to be done because it's there, but that's about it.

Comments: Hey JJ, I think you must mean Southeast cuz it looks down on the mall and goes in the shade midday. David and I actually had a disagreement about what direction it faces...I thought East and David said South, so we brought a compass out there. The compass said SE.

Comments: Just went there over the weekend. Still magical.

Not across from the Scrotum. It actually faces East, towards the One Hand Slap. You walk underneath the rock(the left of two) as you approach the corridor and back porch. From the top of this rock you have a perfect perch to look at Matty's seam in the corridor. It's a two move wonder, using two big xenoliths, with a 10 foot drop off to the right into the trail under the boulders. The first move makes you wonder how bad it would be to slip off t... more >>

Comments: Hey JJ. Had you done this line back when we lived in Prescott? I don't remember anyone even looking at it, but it's fairly blatant, just scary. GP and I climbed it one day while I was visiting from Flag, but I could imagine you having ticked it during your own vision quest long before. ???
