Comments: The original V5 start of this problem climbs up through the miserable crimps to the left of the start described above. Starting with the sidepull lowers the difficulty to V4, but brings the quality up a notch or two.

Comments: Hey CJD....I know the old bolted route with home made hangers you mentioned. I called it "Original Route" in the Lower Solitude area. It's a good route. All the little bolts wiggled in their holes as I trembled my way up it.....so later I came and replaced them with new bolts....and later some anchors. It rarely gets done because it's further up the wall but I still consider it one of the best lines up there. I'd love to know the original name. I'll credit you with the F.A..

Comments: I can't reach the crimp from the heel toe...so I've only done this problem once. Much harder I believe. Looks like a path with the heel/toe.

Comments: I think this is one of those lines that is really striking....but hard because it's painful. It had to be done because it's there, but that's about it.

Comments: What makes this climb a solo? Looks like a boulder problem over the water.

Comments: Hey JJ, I think you must mean Southeast cuz it looks down on the mall and goes in the shade midday. David and I actually had a disagreement about what direction it faces...I thought East and David said South, so we brought a compass out there. The compass said SE.

Comments: Just went there over the weekend. Still magical.

Not across from the Scrotum. It actually faces East, towards the One Hand Slap. You walk underneath the rock(the left of two) as you approach the corridor and back porch. From the top of this rock you have a perfect perch to look at Matty's seam in the corridor. It's a two move wonder, using two big xenoliths, with a 10 foot drop off to the right into the trail under the boulders. The first move makes you wonder how bad it would be to slip off t... more >>

Comments: A nice scary variation climbs left from the flake over the don't fall zone. Finishes with some nice knobs also. About v1.

Comments: Hey JJ. Had you done this line back when we lived in Prescott? I don't remember anyone even looking at it, but it's fairly blatant, just scary. GP and I climbed it one day while I was visiting from Flag, but I could imagine you having ticked it during your own vision quest long before. ???

Comments: Darren hiked it on TR before any cleaning was done, and the crux is short with a napping ledge beneath.....one guy called it 11c/d here.....so I brought it down to 11d. Fact is that water drains down over this wall and so it will never be clean for long. It was in perfectly fine condition when I climbed it, yet everyone complains about the dirtiness, so the dirt must be coming back. Too bad indeed, cuz this route has fairly fun climbing on it. From what was left at the crag, this line appeared t... more >>

Comments: I'm glad you enjoyed these routes Joel. Get up to the One Wall some day and check out Topical Rush. I believe that is the most bad ass sport climb on Elden. If you do....don't forget to top it out!

Comments: Someone replaced that missing bolt. Old one must have loosened, and someone pulled it out instead of tightening it down. Didn't realize that fixed line was so hard on the eyes. Mine were unaffected. Must be a matter of perspective. Enjoy the 20 feet of slabby choss. And Jason....I try, but I just can't please everyone.

Comments: Good question Darren. KC....can you confirm this distinction? I've seen lots of king snakes up this high but never a coral snake. I like snakes so I have a genuine curiosity about the certainty of this claim. KC, not knowing how familiar you are with Arizona snakes, I'm not sure if this claim is reliable. Did you make the distinction Darren mentioned when you saw the snake at the Overlook?

Comments: Hey Chris. This is an unnamed v2. Man Tits starts just left of the plaque and finishes up the scoop in the center of the wall. You should add this climb to MP with a good name. Glad to see you're climbing.

Comments: You can start this problem on the Flexi flake hold and make a long move up left to the 2 pockets... then up.... for a stout v4.
