Comments: I never get tired of the "walking out at sunset, looking back at the Sheepshead" shots, but your's is great too. Somewhere on here I posted my own as well. Sounds like your experience on Peacemaker was similar to ours, rained and lightning'ed off of the 3rd pitch.

Comments: I don't know John. I kinda disagree, I think it is a big deal. It's on the severely overhanging Outta Dodge boulder, and chalk stays there a long time, and is unsightly even without the semi-profane nature of the inscription. It's graffiti, and presumably it's climber graffiti (unknown perpetrator admittedly). The families camping at Group B don't want to see that crap. Climbers should be overly respectful of the park, rock, and other user groups to avoid conflict. Easy enough to shut us d... more >>

Comments: Funny Paul, John and I were talking about this a couple days ago. I first went up to check out Alpine Club in March. There was zero chalk on it. I walked by it again about 1-2 weeks ago and it was positively GLOWING, you could see each chalked hold perfectly from the path 100 yards below. Save your money, you don't need any more chalk for this one LOL.

Comments: I guess it's the top of the first pitch. The second pitch is not currently bolted, but if they ever send it, it will end in freedom.

Comments: I used those on the left face as sidepulls. The last move was kind of hard I thought, insecure long reach up and right, as I recall. Fun.

Comments: Love the name. Is this one of the 3 lines Travis was talking about in his comment under #12? I haven't really figured out what is what on this little wall, I guess I need to go back out to Group B sometime and try to figure this out and take a pic or two.

Comments: You trad climbers! I couldn't do a finger lock to save my life. After the cleaning was the problem a pile of sand on the forest floor? :) Have fun at Jackson Falls. Jealous.

Comments: The mail-slot hold that is about 3 feet straight up the face from the first bolt seen on this photo (which is the second bolt) contained a sleeping bat. It's right where the face meets the roof. I just happened to put my hand right next to the bat, not onto it, thus avoiding a bite, I guess. Kinda strange, it was lying down wedged in there, face out, staring at me. Guess they don't always sleep hanging upside down. FYI.

Comments: It's actually pretty good pro for the area. I would say this route is "well protected", but I am certainly no expert and fortunately did not have to test my gear.

Comments: In retrospect you always were kind of a closet pad person-- with all your discovery and FAs at the Dodge and all... Yeah the Lake is an exciting place to be right now. Well, holla when you get back in town. Maybe hit Boulders or if it's halfway decent get you on some problems at the Lake.

Comments: This climb was given 5.7 in the Piana guide. Debating this rating would be like the debate over the Durrance rating IMO: the rating is historic but probably sandbagged by today's standards. Just imagine doing it with a 50 foot rope and tennis shoes in 1952! And then downclimbing for the descent! Wow.
We didn't do the original route that starts in the 3-4 gulley, but it sounds like starting in the 4-5 gulley like we did gets you an additional pretty long pitch of climbing, which is cool. ... more >>

Comments: Yeah Nick you are right, some of area names on here are kinda confusing. How about this field be called the Monolith field,
and this one be called East Bluff North. Geographically that's more correct. Anyone have a better idea?
