Comments: In my opinion, now that mountainproject has started using consensus rating for the main rating used in searches and stuff, that all these routes should have their original rating reassigned to them for historical purposes. R gold you mention south tower, a perfect example. It was 5.7 and the original rating should still be listed as 5.7. If enough people give it 5.9 as a modern rating, then it will have 5.9 attached for searches and as the main rating.

Comments: I finished the way you did. I've seen people rock onto the slopers out right. That seemed like it would be harder but I don't really know.

Comments: Jon, I put V6+ on it a couple weeks after my above request. It was listed as V-easy which clearly is silly. This is a beta website and as such people use it to find stuff to project and/or know what's in an area prior to visiting. I didn't know what to put on it, hence the V6+. I'm happy to change it to V10 or whatever, or the FA/OP can do that himself. But having V-easy listed on a possible double digit problem is counterproductive.

Comments: Yo Zach nice work. I respect the high end climbers who don't propose a rating for the hard stuff they do. But they also are not posting those problems on a beta website, those problems are usually disseminated via climbing mag, etc. Since this is a beta website, how about a guess? I am sure you can narrow it down to 1-2 numbers somewhere in between V-easy and V20+.

Comments: Reading this thread:

mountainproject.com/v/the-bolt...

makes me glad Devil's Lake won't have the bolt safety issue come up. The aging bolts at the Dodge make me a bit nervous if I pause to think about them. If there isn't a need for bolts then perhaps best to avoid. If you build an anchor then you know exactly what you have.

Comments: Is the top of the cliffline eroding? Are the trees are showing signs of bark damage? One can only assume that with all this info easily obtainable online now that the traffic to this and every other area will only increase in the future...

Comments: Nice to see this kind of discourse rather than the usual bolting and subsequent chopping with 15 pages of blah blah in the forums about it.

Comments: Heh. Yeah. Work sucked today.

I'm guilty of being a ticker, sadly. I assume my ticks from a few weeks ago on calliP-D washed off with the rain but who knows. At least we live here and not red rocks or the RRG. I assume those places never wash off. As Bart Simpson says, "I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try" (to brush my ticks off).

Comments: I will also mention that I belayed for both Bagatelle and Phlogiston last weekend, and I commented that I was a bit surprised that I couldn't see a single tick mark from the belay stance on either climb. I was told there were actually 2 small ones on the Bag and one on Phlog. Definitely not all ticked up...

Comments: And the sign says "beanie-wearing pad people, not welcome here"
So I tucked my weed up into my chalk and I went to ask the beta for gear -
He says "you look like a fine trad climber, why don't you stay?"
So I show him my pad and say "Imagine Dad! Me, giving you a belay?"

Ticks, ticks, everywhere are ticks
Fuckin up my onsight, left by those dicks
Do this, don't do that, now scrub off your ticks!

Comments: Haha! No, Peter and I are square on the belay front. He belayed me on my (much less impressive) project-of-the-day.

Comments: Loads of good beta on here, but I'll throw in that a purple superlight Wild Country rock fits nicely in the tiny seam in the triangle at mid-crux. It's doubtful you would generate 4kn of force with a fall on the crux move, and it should keep you from breaking your ankles on the ledge if you were unlucky enough to come off going for the ledge.

Comments: I changed it some, if anyone has done this one recently I'd be happy to reassign to you. I climbed it on TR a few years ago and don't remember all that much about it except the start and the flexing hold.
