Comments: There were four of us - so we used 2x 60m ropes to rappel down from the v-notch. I think this put us very close to the Kain Route.

Comments: Shouldn't the park be split up into areas? or at least peaks? Going from Park > Route will cause problems in the future if people make more contributions.

Comments: I still use a double-fisherman's knot, I've been using it for 40 years and it's served me well, I have only had a stuck rope once in that time and it wasn't the knot - there's a trick to untying it fairly easily. I'd be interested in getting data for how often a knot prevents a pull. A good trick is to have the first person down try and retrieve the rope, this will reveal any s... more >>

Comments: Looks suspiciously like "Quicksilver". So I'm going to rename it unless there's historical proof that this name is older than Quicksilver, which doesn't seem likely considering the originating movie was released in 2008 and Quicksilver is from the early 90's.

Comments: Great shot! I remember watching my second desperately try to get a quickdraw over his head just moments before he cut loose and swung all the way past the crux.

Comments: Nice double rope threading - I mean it; one doesn't see a lot of this in the US. Even if an extra rope is required for rappel almost all US climbers just clip the extra rope onto their haul loop, or worse; onto the harness gear rack.

So this is good to see.

Comments: North (aka L-Shaped) Couloir on Mount Sill is obvious in this picture. Climb to the top of it to the notch between Sill and Apex Peak (on the right).

Comments: Not very often a broken hold makes a better one but this time it did - there's a big foothold at the crux rounding the corner on the right - makes things a bit easier, but still 5.9.

Comments: When someone says "Central Sierra" I must confess I think of the region of the High Sierra between the Palisades and Kearsarge Pass. Is there another name we can give it? Perhaps I'm wrong.
