Comments: I have removed the dead links for the Inyo permits as Recreation.gov now handles these, and it's a better system as you can see what's available instead of having to wait for the mail to find out if you got the permit or not.

Comments: I wonder if the luminaries who closed this area understood that other crags hereabouts (SoCal) would be adversely impacted? Scientists tend to wear blinkers.
Holcomb Valley Pinnacles comes to mind.

Comments: Did it back in 1986 with a couple of other guys I met in the Sierra (Bob and Pat), took us two days to get to the summit then half a day to the bottom of the Tram. We stayed the night in the summit hut, carried skis up and tried to ski down the back side. Conditions were horrible, crust over powder over hard ice, with hard ice at the summit pitches.
But of an epic but glad I did it.

Comments: Yes - they make good beer.
Although to truly appreciate an IPA you have to drink it after it's been sitting in a steamer cargo hold for a 2-month journey to India, followed by another month across the dusty plains of India, followed by a 2-week trip up to the northwest frontier....

Comments: Years ago I arrived at the top of this climb only to be told by the SB SAR people that I couldn't clip the anchors because they were going to use them ! My response was rather rapid "oh yes I am, watch me".

Comments: We did the climb from the Needles end of fire road camp - passing all of the needles to the dome, then heading down and around to the base. It wasn't too bad, we'd already been at the Needles for a few days so were in the right frame of mind for that particular approach.
