Comments: FWIW, this problem was never referred to as "Indian Ladder" by the developers. Indian Ladder is at The Bog in the Poudre. Same developers.

Any insights regarding the status of this problem, as discussed above?

Comments: Flash Gordon ... since I entered the majority of the Satellites problems in the database, I am curious about this original xerox guide you speak of ... who put it together? Just the Satellites Boulders or is there more to it?

Thanks in advance for your response. Send me an e-mail message if you prefer.

Comments: While I agree Jason, I can't help but yawn a little. Boulderers from all over the world know this problem as The Kind. However, it's nice to finally know who was first to start tooling around putting up problems near Emerald Lake. I knew Ian Glass and Jim Belcer were early on the scene, but Jim Hurst is new name I had not heard before. Thanks for that cool bit of info!

A related example is The Monkey Traverse, which was known for 20 years as The Long Traverse before Benningfield's guide changed... more >>

Comments: I too have ALWAYS heard this called "The Kind." Respect for The Standard Overhang name should presumably be given, regardless how uninspiring it is.

Comments: FA: Pat Goodman.

That wasn't the first hold to break on this one. There was a crimp up high on the left side of the arete that broke a few years ago too. The only things keeping this one from being 4 stars is the exfoliation and friability of the some of the small edges near the top. If the breaking/friability of holds is over, this one might be worthy of 4 stars.

Comments: FWIW, a lot of folks call this The Dali Seam. Most folks probably don't care what you call it. This would be a really good warmupy thing, if not for the annoying boulder behind and beneath you ... oh well. The lower start, IIRC, is approximately V3.

I agree about the FA info tcamillieri ... enter the problem as "Unknown" and let folks come along and provide the info.

After having done both a few times, I would argue this problem is better than Timeline.

Comments: I can only recall 2 climbable boulders directly up the faint trail from Hank's Boulder. I think there may be a small one in between them, but can't remember.

Here's some info, albeit slightly incomplete ... right to left across 1st and 3rd boulders.

1st (big) Boulder R->L
Reach Out V6ish (FA: BS)
Poudre Arete V9/10 (FA: HF - low start to Reach Out)
Mr. Harry V4/5 (FA: PG)
The Mase V4 (FA: PG - cheatstone) / V9/10/? (FA: BS - now broken)

2nd (small) Boulder
nothing maybe???

Comments: Just passing this along ...

This event has been rescheduled due to weather until Sunday at 10 AM at Echo Lake.

Wade, anyone who goes up there knows that there is little if any trash, pad remnants, the occasional misplaced water bottle, etc. this year. We are building relationships and good will with the rangers, who will presumably attend again this year. After the clusterbomb with the new guidebook, we need to prove that we are not all as short-sighted as guidebook authors who apparently don... more >>
