Comments: I named it Chopped Suey when putting together the first CO ice guide, but I'm damn sure it'd been climbed before 1994. Ha Ha! Just saw Joe Ryan's text. Joe watched me do it that day. Long time ago!

Comments: Benny Bach and I did the first ascent of this tower in 1999 or 2000. The route pictured in these images look like what we climbed although I'd have to pull out my slides to make sure. The fixed Alien was definitely not ours.

Comments: Luke Laeser, Mike Lyons, Ann Burns, and I climbed a handful of ice routes between Red River and Questa (all first ascents). One was three pitches. There's a reference in an old AAJ.

Comments: This route was Matt and Cam only. There was absolutely no Jeff Ash along. Who added him? Total BS.

Comments: Adam, mate.
Yeah, I think you've even spelled it right. Taos. But pronounced "Dows." And I remember the same thing: my feet absolutely cooking in them. I had two pairs and later switched back to my preferred ACES, courtesy of John Bachar (I literally bought my first pairs off John in J-Tree). Best, Cammo

Comments: Once again, we called this "EB's Love Muscle." Eric changed the name in one of his books. There was never a route name. But hey, let's create one. Climbers make so much stuff up it's disturbing. Especially the magazine editors. Most have hardly climbed anything and yet they get to be the gateway to what's said and reported. Climbing magazines are the equivalent of Fox News. This is the tip of my experience with them.

Comments: Yet again, Jesse and I named this "EB's Love Muscle" after Eric, but Eric changed it in his book, of course! (Don't blame him really.)

Comments: "Fake Mexican Hat"?

WTF? The idiotors, whoops, editors, of Mtn Project are flipping high. Why does that stand?

Paul's right: FA of the tower; Cameron Burns with Paul Fehlau as rope anchor. January 18, 1990. Paul and I were out staying at Warren Harding's place in Moab (yep, the same guy who did the first ascent of the Nose). It was the shittiest weather ever. Snowing every day. Warren would keep us up until 2 or 3 am every night telling stories (some of the recordings of these will b... more >>
