Comments: Just be careful that you're on the correct rope when you start your single strand rappel. Its pretty intuitive which side you want to be on, but it can still be confusing your first time. And if you try to rap the wrong side, you could plummet, as one side of the setup is the side you're going to pull to get your rope back. Seems silly but I know it's happened, so just keep an eye out.

Comments: I agree with the previous posters.. bloody stout.

Also, I think the 2004 guidebook states to go right when the crack ends, I didn't go far that way as it involved slab moves on a sheet of bird feces, but going left worked well.

Comments: Awesome arete, polished probably because it's so awesome which adds a dimension, if I remember correctly. I climbed this a couple years ago but the comments reminded me of the gap between the last bolt and the anchors.. I just remember thinking, "those bastards" upon discovering there was no bolt where I expected.. haha, a good memory though and still safe if scary (I scare easy though). Definitely go for the onsight if you have the chance, beta is a ton of fun as you meander up the arete lookin... more >>

Comments: There are some thin hands, but from what I remember you almost always have solid feet to take most of the weight, just look high.

Comments: Highly recommended climb. If your accustomed to vertical face climbing like me, this is a really interesting foray into angles of all kinds.

Comments: Awesome route! My favorite in New Jack so far. Long for the area, overhung, sustained, a bit technical, but on good holds. If you're still fighting down your inner sissy like me, the slab climb from the last bolt to the anchors is intimidating. Definitely recommend this route to anyone heading to NJC.

Comments: EDIT: A man-made break that claimed Redrum and The Sweetest Thing at the beginning of March. If you read my original post, rest assured this was intentional; apparently the rock had shown visible signs of movement so they took it down before anything bad happened. Thanks to Louie and everyone else who helps keep up the quarry.
