Comments: Alan told me that he originally climbed the route with only 2 bolts and trad gear, and that he called it 5.9. I would disagree with the PG rating however, I don't think there is an elevated state of risk.

Comments: Cool sounds good. Yeah this route is not as good as some of the others at the crag, though it's not bad for a warm up for me. I voted for 5.10a because it feels easier than dog star which is also much more fun.

Comments: depending on the sequence and when you traverse right on the face the route feels a little bit easier than .10b to me. I'm not good at grades though but I would say 5.9+ or .10a.

Comments: I couldn't remember the name for a while but I just drove through this weekend, Wayne's has $.99 egg sandwiches and coffee and it makes me laugh. On a serious note the Woodstock Inn and Brewery is great all the way around.

Comments: 17 degrees means great friction so I wouldn't fall off the not quite so positive holds at the top. Thanks for the belay and the nice picture Lee.

Comments: Maybe I got all messed up on this route but I found it akward and hard for the grade, then again it was about 25 degrees out.

Comments: The hold Lee is talking about is kind of hidden off to the left and for me it makes the difference between a really fun, somehwat casual climb and a pretty big, but still exciting slap in the face.

Comments: This is one of the problems behind the Welcome Boulder. Starting left of Mike there are a few straight up variations in the VO - V1 range, he is doing a traverse in the V5 range which links the start on the left with a V3/V4ish problem to his right. There are also some great but scary committing problems around the other sides of this boulder. If you know the names of any of these please post them.

Comments: it is really fun, maybe that warrants another trip out to Blair? Could be a short trip because you can see this one from the parking lot. There are also some really cool problems on the other boulders behind this one but I don't know the names of any of them, something to do with orange juice I think

Comments: Do this route. The anchors have chaines, not quick clips.

Comments: Nice picture Tom, probably the best thing about the route is how photogenic it is.

Comments: I would certainly call this a four star route, however the bottom of the route is a little bit dirty with some small but loose rocks on a lower ledge. Be careful pulling your rope as I've pulled down more than I wanted to.

Comments: This route is classic, as Ladd said there are options at the bottom, and I choose to leave my hands out of the two obvious Heuco's, however they make great foot holds. At the top it is possible and fun to knee bar before clipping the anchors.

Comments: Nice photo, I never put my hands into the Hueco's, just my feet.

Comments: pulling over the roof is certainly the crux, for which I was never able to use the gaston everyone else talks about, but rather a big right hand throw to a nice sloper. I've seen people heel hook and mantel as well.

Comments: you know, this is getting to be pretty funny. This climb actually holds a pretty warm spot in my heart as it was my first 5.10 onsight (maybe not a true onsight as I had known the grade and probably seen somebody on it once as I had frequented the meadows a bit before) and I found the climbing pretty interesting. I was however, fresh from warming up and at the early part of my day, not tired and sandbagged.

Comments: Off to the left of the fire tower trail there are a lot of boulders and interesting problems. The local Bryce Dalhaus spent quite a bit of time exploring and documenting problems in this area. The rock quality is generally not as good as the classic areas however a little cleaning would go a long way and there certainly won't be any crowds.

Comments: I had a rope get stuck in the top of the finger crack after I had moved onto the final slab, it sucked, watch out. This is an excellent route.
