Comments: Be advised... there is a massive loose block about 30 feet up and a bit to the right of the crack. it's pretty obvious from the ground but when climbing it may be tempting to yard on it. My advice (which I didn't do myself) is to stay in the crack throughout the route.

Comments: i found the first pitch of this route a bit awkward and a grainier sandstone then its neighbors. this could be because of the amount of traffic it sees. still a nice pitch with some variety.

Comments: Very high quality pitch. Short and sweet, and a great introduction to I-Creek.

Location: UT : Moab Area : Castle Valley : Castleton Tower : North Chimney (5.8) By: brian benjamin weinstein When: Mar 23, 2004 | view comment >> |
Comments: this route, being the north chimney, can get quite cold. be prepared even during the warmer months. the first pitch was sustained climbing at 5.9-. a nice long double crack system with quality gear.

Comments: the second pitch of this route is of very high quality. tony describes it well. a nice double crack (hands) to a fun off-width, this pitch is not to be missed. i plugged a #4 in the left side of the offwidth but a little seam to the right (small gear) continues to the chains. solid variety.
