Comments: Pretty darn gritty. My heart went pitter-patter as my feet went skitter-skatter.

Comments: This is an exciting, airy route with fun exposed movement. There are a lot of hollow flaky spots but there's also enough good rock to keep the fear factor low. The most exciting part of all was the one bolt anchor!!?? Though the bolt looked good, I left a stopper as a second piece just to be safe. To supplement the pin and bolts I used stoppers and small cams up to a #1 Camalot.

Comments: This route and its neighbor, Breaking Bad, are excellent choices for 5.8 aficionados like me. The hardest part is probably right at the start. I kept putting in gear thinking that it might be getting harder along the way, but big holds continued to appear along the exciting exposed upper half of the route. Long slings on gear at the end of the traversing section help minimize rope drag at the top.

Comments: Comments on the approach:
In over 30 years of climbing in JT this was some of the hardest scrambling I've ever done. I was too scared to do the "ramp" approach and came in to the base of the route from the other direction. At one point I changed from approach shoes to climbing shoes for a little extra security. Very adventurous!

Comments: Most interesting climbing of all the routes on PETA Crag. We felt 5.10a was a more realistic rating.

Comments: Three bolts and a two bolt anchor. It's possible to get a piece or two of gear below the roof to protect clipping the first bolt.
