Comments: Fabiano.......Echo Cliffs ISN'T very TR friendly in respect to being able to easily get to the top and drop a rope into the anchors. There are a few routes where it is possible, but sketchy because the majority of anchors are set BELOW the top (to reduce rope drag). We have witnessed many parties wandering around the top trying to do what you are suggesting, but most found it a waste of time and often knock off rocks and/or get into a sketchy situation trying to set the TR (often from cold shuts... more >>

Comments: We met a USFS fire crew wandering around Texas Canyon checking things out that claim there have been six fatalities on Rush Canyon Road in 2014, and that future plans call for Rush Canyon Road to be paved and guard rails to be installed.

Comments: A 6 bolt 5.11b on the left wall and a 5.10d on the right side. The 5.10d, on the right, starts up in the chimney and and works up and onto a high knob, where the yellow line veers left, before moving right, not directly up from the base as depicted by the yellow line.

Comments: As Andy indicated the bolts on this route are NOT inspiring (big buttonheads that spin). I want to thank Roy for that very high 1st bolt. Fun, committing moves, but the rock going past the 1st two bolts is loose and grainy.

Comments: As previously stated PeeWee's Piton seems a bit stiff for a 5.10a. As Todd indicated, bailing out right could alleviate some of the strain. Definitely, take small cam for the slot between the 2nd & 3rd bolt.

Comments: Yeah...RNclimber nailed it. Awkward and a sandbag at 5.10a. Fun climb and a must do at NJC. Ten votes for 5.10a = group speak. Like right V crack in Indian Cove, JT, guidebook says 5.10a, but NOT.

Comments: Those may be committing moves, but hardly to the 1st bolt, which requires a mantle and an awkward move left, before one can stand up and clip the 1st bolt.
The 1st is clearly visible ten feet over the climber's head.

Comments: The off-roaders and the Rowher Flats OHV area appear to be the main focus for the USFS and their fee programs, but the popularity of Texas Canyon with climbers affords the USFS another revenue source despite three court decisions against the highly unpopular Adventure Pass program. Climbers have been approached by rangers on several occasions to ask their participation in spreading the word that the Adventure Pass supports USFS services that benefit climbers. Does grading this slope and adding ... more >>

Comments: Here's a bench that has been added just downhill, below the memorial, on Rush Canyon Road, for the three Burbank teens that died on September 12, 2014, when their truck rolled down an embankment.

Bench and plants.

Comments: The three teens, from Burbank, were killed and two others injured when their truck rolled down an embankment on Rush Canyon Road at 2AM on September 12, 2014. The driver, Ian Bulbenko was killed and one of the injured teens regained conscientiousness at 7:30am and called for help. The teens, all age 19, were recent graduates of John Burroughs High School in Burbank, CA.
