Comments: First off my wife rules!
Second, Brad you can't compare Trisstin's Tower to a route you haven't done.

Comments: Funny you should ask Brad, I mounted a smaller version to my bike helmet yesterday. My standard after work road ride that I usually do in 2 hours only took me an hour and 15 minutes! It was crazy! I am building a larger version for my car right now! Give the man your money it works!

Comments: -Monty, just because something biodegrades doesn't mean you should be dumping it in the desert. Lot's of litter in the desert will biodegrade eventually and looks like shit until it does.
-Luke's logic: Other people trash the desert so it is ok for us to trash it as well.
-Richard's logic: If it doesn't kill anyone what's the harm?
-Stevie, people are going to come to the desert and climb whether we post routes or not.
Is it really acceptable to post photos of people littering, thus sho... more >>

Comments: Bill, Brad and I climbed this last weekend. Here are some thoughts. -This was the my favorite route I have done in the fishers thus far.
-We fixed 5 pitches on day one and then climbed the rest on day 2.
-On pitch 3 it says to engineer moves straight right off the belay then climb up a bolt ladder. Bill led this pitch and followed the description and had some troubles. I would suggest trying to free climb straight up 10' to a new 3/8" bolt and then traverse right to the bolt ladder. If y... more >>

Comments: So my dad bought be a SPOT (electronic device to call for help if you are in trouble or tell friends where you are) and told me to try it out. So I have the spot in by backpack climbing the North Pillar and hear a Helicopter.... It circles by us 3 times while I'm following a pitch freaking out the whole time. Unfortunately and fortunately they were looking for a hurt hiker not us.

Comments: Brad, Matt and I climbed this last weekend and added a bolt to the anchors of pitch 4 and 5. Some of the aid bolts definitely look like they were cut from gutter but are just fine for aiding on. The pitch 3 anchor can be backed up with cams in a bedding seem.
Also we climbed Block Top on Saturday and instead of rappeling to the ground we stopped at the notch and did an easy traverse pitch to Islet skipping the first two pitches.

Comments: Like you said Steve, there is a easier descent in the gully/bay north of the towers. There are some cairns and two rappels are required (one short and one was a full 50 meter.) Once you know where to hike/rappel it is probably an hour or less from the car to the base of the towers. Many thanks to Brad for scoping the descent for us.

Comments: When we climbed Block Top we climbed the same first pitch as pictured but it looked to be much easier (read: less wide) if you take the hand crack left of the climber that arcs right into the wide crack above the roof. Just a suggestion if you are heading that way.

Comments: Neither of these pictures are photographs they are really good paintings that Bill did in an art class. So since Bill has never been on Shiprock and these really good paintings are figments of his imagination do not use them for beta if you also decide to climb Shiprock with your imaginary paintbrush... wait what?

Comments: I have driven in twice. The first time driving in took about 3.5 hours in full light. I was moving rocks out of the way and taking it easy.
(side note: who thinks that moving rocks off a 4x4 road is like chipping a climb? The guy i drove in with would not help me move any rocks and gave me so much shit.)
The last time driving out it took me 1.5 hours in the dark.
I would not recommend mountain biking since the road is sandy in many places.

Comments: Thank you for saying it first Ian. Now that I think about it, I don't think Brad knows how to hand jam. When he follows hand crack pitches he does it with two gold camalots.
