Comments: Geir you are correct. I changed the title to reflect that this description is for the Sweeny Direct Variation.

Comments: I hope Eric is right and that this is the case. But I find it very hard to believe that packrats took an entire black bag full of more than 15 bolts and hangers. If so, well that will be a new one in my book of crazy things that happens in Arizona.

I will also assume that 5 draws left on a project where taken and carry out by rats. Those are some vicious rats!

Comments: I know that is very tempting to steal a hidden stash of bolts and hangers from a crag that is being developed. This takes a lot of time, effort, and money for someone to come and steal it. If you see a stash and it is not yours DON'T F#$&ING STEAL IT!

I had one at Grad Wall so that this past weekend I could finish bolting a project that I have over there. The f#$%er, whoever it is, took the hangers, but left the hammer (thank you for this one...sarcasm). If you can be so polite ... more >>

Comments: Good route but the fifth bolt needs to be replaced! The bolt itself (not just the hanger) is wobbling off place and rotating.

Comments: I would agree that it will be good to stick clip the first bolt. It is easy slab, but if you are short like me (5'3), it is definitely committing to clip the first bolt.

Comments: A good anecdote I learned this past weekend is that ironically the Rockfellows are known by local ranchers, artist, and non-climbers as "El Capitan"

Comments: I have not done this route in a long time, but I definitely recommend doing this route by combining both pitches in one. That is the way to go! 70 meter will get you down.

Comments: Hey Mike, I will be more than happy to join you. Like a year or so I hike around with my pad (mike dudleys Pad) and my girlfriend. We put up some problems, but late we got concerned because a ranch near by decided to extend the fence and block the entranc through the wash. I did not have time to get with the rancher and talk to him, but like I said I will be more than happy to join you.

Comments: Curtis: As Far as I know, the annual closures are from March 1st to June 30th. This is for the Rockefellow Group and Cochise Dome. If you have any questions look at the Access Fund website or contact the Douglas Range District they are very helpful.

Comments: This was not a decision taken drastically. Like Daryl stated, we went around and ask, and researched about putting a bolt or not. As a route setter and climber, I love putting up routes with the least amounts of bolts. Also, I know how significant a route is for a FA party because myself I treat every of my route like my own child. With this said, we made sure that we contacted the right person because we knew Mike wasn’t with us anymore. She gave us the permission and a very very long co... more >>

Comments: It is true Eric. The potential in this area is amazing. We just have to be very careful on how to handle the bees situation. I do not know if they are protected or how to porperly remove them from there without ruining the reputation of the climbing community in the area. This is a wonderful place for us to lose it. If you guys know or have any information about how to properly remove them from there, I would be more than happy to follow up with the proper procedures or contacts. But again... more >>
