Comments: From experience I would suggust replacing the upright 2x4's with treated 2x6's relatively soon. The 2x4's will work for a bit but that is a lot of stress for them. Otherwise looking good!

Comments: Oops, yes it is In Search of Unicorns. 1st time here, and the description on Wudamudafuka makes it sound like this one as we started in the wet crack and not to the left. Thanks for pointing this out.

Comments: Where the hell did the name "Menses Prow" come from with all of the related names (Period Piece/First Blood/etc). Has to be some sort of weird story/history?

Comments: Be prepared for the wade across the river to be at least waist deep. The water is controlled by the release from the reservoir and I have been here in mid-Oct before and the flow was just as strong as mid-summer so don't expect it to be low based on the time of the year. Lots of other climbs here here too in the easier range if you look around.

Comments: Hey Tom - Thanks for the info and background. Is the problem that you mentioned on the right side this problem located on the arete? (i.e. in this picture): mountainproject.com/v/107475354. Also, I assume the left problem more or less follows the arete on the left side but staying mostly on the face. Can you confirm? I agree with the lack of names makes it kind of fun in Castlewood and hopefully going forward most names stay somewhat generic/vague just with good directions and good phot... more >>

Comments: A great warm-up problem and a nice place to start if you want to hit other boulders in the area (Berthoud/Buddha/Corridor). The crux is finding the moves to get over the lip. The landing is almost perfect except for a rock sticking out right in the landing sweet spot. Easily covered with pads. Lots of other problems in the immediate area. Bob Horan in Bouldering Colorado has this labeled as the "North Block" and this climb called "Flake It", but it seems this area was never given a proper ... more >>

Comments: Hey Keagan - nice video. I would expect the majority of those problems have been done before. Maybe one or two of the variations have not been done, but those specific boulders/lines have been climbed on for years. Not sure if any of them were ever given specific names though. From what I can tell, if there is an new FA in Castlewood, it is some obscure boulder buried deep in the trees or climbing a variation. Otherwise nice video, those are some fun blocks. Looks like you did a couple prob... more >>

Comments: I know there is a boulder that has a ton of large pebbles on it but not super tall up there. Bob Horan has it labeled as the Bubble Rock or something like that in his latest book.

Comments: Hey Kegan - I am confused too where these boulders are. Below is a link to a Google satellite map with a few of the major boulders mapped on it along with the trails. I have highlighted a large red area which I believe is the location you are talking about for these boulders. maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=203858300141676234019.00000111e>>>
