Comments: One more note on directions. After the left turn off of Middlemarch Rd onto FR 687, the right to the Isle of You parking area lies IMMEDIATELY AFTER A CATTLE GUARD about two miles in.

Comments: Great route. How'd it survive the fire?

Comments: Yep, Rabbit Tracks is high on my list of sandbagged Lemmon climbs on which an early leader could run into serious trouble. I've led this a few times and followed it a few times, and am consistently surprised by its 5.6 rating. On lead, it feels like 5.7+, but as Vincent points out, part of this is due to the awkward stances necessary while placing pro. In any event, its a stretch to call this a three-star route.

Comments: Rabbit Tracks is NOT a good climb for a beginning leader. The pro is not trivial, and the climb is one of the more intimidating 5.6 routes on Mt. Lemmon, if not anywhere. Good trad alternatives: Standard Route on Chimney Rock (5.7 crux has a bolt), Slippery When Wet (skip early 5.7+ move if you're looking for a very fun 5.6 route), or Monkey Business on Green Slabs.

Comments: I recently approached from the east and didn't have any of the problems listed up above. Although the dirt road after 286 is a bit rough, I believe its passable by a passenger car in good weather. Second, the trail from the ranch to the saddle is actually quite good. It follows the streambed for a ways, but eventually heads out of the drainage on the right, where it switchbacks up to the saddle. From the saddle to Lion's Ledge is a different story, but that's an adventure whether you approach... more >>

Comments: I didn't really enjoy the awkward off-width section up top, but this is a solid route overall.

Comments: This is a Grade I climb. Sorry for the typo.

Comments: This is a great climb! We combined the first and second pitches (at least, as they are described above - other sources only call this a 2 pitch climb) and used a 50m rope, which worked just fine. The crux is down near the bottom of the first pitch and is an awkward chimney sort of move. This can be bypassed by walking around and up to the the left of the climb, which allows you to start at the first belay described above.
