Comments: There is now a well marked trail from the base of the Magna Mater Spire that continues downhill and heads east to the base of All Your Mite and the other routes on the left side.

Comments: As Other Mothers has become more popular, a sort of spiderweb of trails has begun to show up below the area. I think an actual trail splitting from the Lower Mothers trail and heading to Others would decrease impact and just make sense.

Comments: The North V1 sit starts below the central flake with a sort of double knee-bar and goes straight up. The left arete is also a good line.

Comments: Got on this to beef up the anchor and discovered that most of the cracks in the chimney are filled with mud. Pretty nasty in there, not recommended!

Comments: After the gate is locked on Land's End, you may still be able to access the areas from CO Highway 65 (I'm not sure where the gate is on top). I was climbing on Paleosol Wall until the end of November, and as long as the temps were in the 50s in GJ, it stays pretty comfortable. Keep in mind locating the rap stations can be more than a little sketchy with snow on the ground!

Comments: Really junky rock for the 1st half and then better rock with some fun movement. Definitely extend your anchor for the TR.

Comments: Great route with well-protected cruxes. Some thought provoking distance between the bolts on the easier sections. The rock was much better than expected, more solid than many climbs in the Colorado National Monument. We rappelled the route with a 60 meter rope and had no problems. One of my favorite multi-pitch slabs, up there with Davis Face in Buena Vista.

Comments: Fun route with a great section of sustained stemming. After the bolts I placed two bomber 0.4 BDs before reaching the ledge. In addition to the gear above, I would recommend an additional #5 or #6 Camalot.

Comments: I thought this was called "No Name Wall"? Could be mistaken. I rope soloed a route somewhere here ~4 years ago (think it was Watson) and broke a hold, took a whipper, blew a cam, and got a nasty corneal abrasion. I love Unaweep....

Comments: Climbed the 1st pitch of this again today and it is awesome. The 1st 25 feet is a bit heads up but there is good pro available. Fantastic route that gives you just what you need when you need it.

Location: UT : Moab Area : Indian Creek : 1st Meat Wall By: Alex Garhart When: Sep 25, 2012 | view comment >> |
Comments: Thanks again slim, I'm glad you had an opportunity to make it up there. If you head up again check out Kebab, Lamb Chop, Taco Flavored Kisses, Menudo and Blood Sausage. These routes put all the others to shame. By the way- the name "Raining Meat" came from all the crap flying down at my belayer (who was a good sport). I was super gripped and bleeding by the time I drilled the anchors, so it's good to hear 5.10 is a bit of a sandbag!

Comments: No worries Devin. Dan got the FA on this baby and I agreed with him that the climbing was not hard enough to warrant 5.10. I actually enjoyed this route but it is a little spooky because of the thin edge you have to pull on but there are good feet the whole way, just feels sporty.
