Comments: Windy Point is labeled on the relevant USGS topo map. Follow the same canyon west of Newcastle that leads to the approach to the Fortress of Solitude and on up into the Flattops Wilderness. Continue up the hill on the dirt road (30-45 minutes) until a switch back in an aspen grove along the rim overlooking East Elk Creek. Comments: Thirty years ago it became obvious (to me, at least) that anything that could be free-climbed could be on-sight free-soloed. If you gain satisfaction from unnecessary risk, that's your business. Eventually you'll mature or you'll earn a Darwin award. Maturity is more impressive.
