Comments: This is a very fun 5.5 lead. The route is well protected down low, with the last two bolts to the anchors being a little run out by comparison, but the moves there are easy and up high.
9 bolts to the anchors (one chain and one hanger at anchors).
The hanger was spinning a bit as of late November 2008.

Comments: Our group was charged the $1 walk-in fee one our way to climb at Munchkinland on Sunday May 25th. We thought it was odd, but didn't know any better and didn't feel like arguing the point, so we paid our way in.
Thanks to Scott, I've been in touch with the Forest Service about this and they're going to refund our money (on principal) and speak directly with the staff at the Rose Canyon area about this.
The Forest Service rep made it very clear that there is to be no fee for walk-ins and apolog... more >>

Comments: Nice mellow climb that becomes progressively thinner as it approaches the chains.
Can setup a top rope for Spinal Arc to the left from the chains of this one.

Comments: My partner had no problem working her way up the edge to the first bolt, but I found more confidence setting up the first clip as a face climb with the tree at my back.
Removing the first quick draw (first bolt) on the rap down sent me for a spinning ride into the tree, so watch that. ;-)

Comments: If the moves to the first two bolts seem too thin, I've seen people start left and clip right. Personally that seemed more awkward to me, but they seemed to feel more secure doing it that way.
Fun climb with a little scoot out left up the crack between the last bolt and the chains.
My partner knocked off golf ball size chunk of rock on this route...belay helmets are a good idea out here.

Comments: Bees They're pretty darn active right now. Given the spread of africanized honeybees around here we decided it was time to go off trail on our approach when the buzzing was louder than any other ambient noise. (The thought of running from attacking bees down that hill was not very enticing). We couldn't tell if they were swarming and on the move or if that was just the hive...but it sounded like a lot them.
There was a much smaller hive we tip toed past between Nova Super Sport (17 on... more >>

Comments: Friend of mine and I went down there this past weekend. We made some notes on directions and I'll post them here in hopes they'll prove useful to someone.
