Comments: Just a warning, some one "don't want to mention any names" has been chopping bolts and anchors all over the place at El Cajone Mountain. Be aware of this and inspect a route before you start to climb. If the bolts looks disfigured, it is a good bet that the bolt has been smashed and rendered useless.

I have heard of one report (not confirmed) of someone starting up a route only to find the second half of the route was chopped. This person was forced to run it out in order to get to another set... more >>

Comments: Great Route!! Favorite pitches are pitch two and the very pumpy and very long lie back pitch. I only had 10 quickdraws so the 18bolt pitch became a little more exciting.

PS. I have done the climb twice, the first time was a couple days after a big rain storm and the gully was roaring with water, the approach took 3 hours and my partner found himself almost swimming in one of the pools.

Comments: Good route. I found it to be better than Prince of Darkness. Not sure if I would give it a 10D or 10+ rating like the guide books, however, fun and sustained face climbing for six pitches.

Gear: 15 draws, 1-2 TCUs in the finger-size range. As a side note, we did the route without placing a single piece of gear and never felt run out.

There is a nice ledge at the top of pitch three with a great view.

Easy rap with 2 ropes.
