Comments: At the ledge about half way up the bolt is an exciting clip above a ledge. My tall partner had no problem but I was happy to put the finger sized cams I didn't use at the start in a crack at the ledge. The next bolt is fifteen feet down so if you were to pop off clipping and bounce of the ledge you would take a 30-40 footer. if you are 5' 10" or so you might be able to clip it from the ledge. Upper wall is great!

Comments: Never a good idea to jug a stuck rope. It is easy to walk around to the top and rap in. If you had another rope to climb Swept... you could have led Rapture again. Glad you didn't hit anything.

Comments: This route came about after spending a week at Hueco Tanks with Todd Skinner. He had been working on a thing called the Gunfighter. He had been working on it for some time. The concept of "projecting" was so new to me and I decided to find a project. I am not positive but I think went up alone and rapped down the back side of Chimney pulling on to the wall drilling bolts as I went. I was guessing where they should go in order to clip them. I returned with Steve Amter and headed up planning to p... more >>

Comments: Replaced all the old bolts and hangers except for some anchors with ASCA safeclimbing.org/ hardware. I also found one hold on a route on the far left that had an enhanced hold. A'90s indiscretion on my part. I vaguely remember it was done to make the "impossible" first clip less difficult. I returned that hold to roughly it's original state. Clipping the first bolt is now almost impossible but you can do it or stick clip it. My apologies.

Comments: Well I just measured mine and it is only 66M long. That is short but still only 12 feet short. I would still encourage that the anchors be lowered to the last bolt for rope rubbing and to make sure those who are unaware they have a shorter rope will be safer.

Comments: JBak, did you not get the memo. No new routes until the guidebook has been printed and released!!! It would have been nice to have one day where the book was not already obsolete, but noooooo, you have to put up another route and ruin things!

DECREE:
Hereforth, be it known, no new routes will be put along the Catalina Highway until such time as Squeezing the Lemmon III has been released!

;) End of July to early August so take a road trip John!

Comments: Just did this with a friend who wanted a first gear lead. It was pretty perfect for that. There are bolts at the hardest section and good gear to be had above. When the crack gets flaring and funky you can still get a good slightly flared big blue Camalot in or run it out as it is easy. Finish is bolt protected and fun with a long run out on very easy ground to the top. Super long pitch.

Comments: This is a perfect warm-up for the wall. Anchor is in a bad spot. Should have been 5 feet lower and a bit left to reduce rope drag if a Top-rope is set up.

Comments: See picture about being stranded in space. Awesome climb. I would suggest that Toast moves those anchors down to where the last bolt is. The consequences of someone lowering off the end of the rope are not worth another 10 feet of 5.7 climbing. This also would reduce rope drag while lowering. It is such a great route after pulling on to the upper wall I look forward to my next visit.

Comments: I did the FA. I am 5.6. I don't mind if someone adds a bolt between the ground and the first bolt. It does appear a lot of people have done it as is so I leave it to the locals to add or not add. We were more about having a good head then, safety came from being solid mentally.

Comments: BEES BEES BEES! Got on this route today and found that the abandoned hive about half way up now has a pack of new residents and the most beautiful honeycombs. I left a leaver biner and headed for dirt as fast as possible. Such a bummer as this route with the link-up is as good as they get.

Comments: I did two routes here in the 80s. One of them was right off the road at a picnic area and the other was well past the end of the road after crossing the river on the bridge. I should look in the notebook and post them up.

Comments: Thanks Jaspur. They don't always last at this canyon as a lot of new climbers don't understand they need to use their own draws when top-roping or that they are not booty. We all appreciate your contribution whatever happens.

Comments: Thanks Brian. How did you like Farm Team? Is is better than the chimney? Can the people doing the chimney avoid those bolts? Which route would you rather do? Our goal, along with doing first ascents, at this never climbed crag, was to increase the number of moderates. As you know Mt. Lemmon is lacking in routes below 5.10 so I am constantly badgering Jim to do them when we find them.

Comments: Never had a gate and doesn't really need one if you are clipped into the carabiner as well. That is, of course if all you are doing is lowering off. If you are top-roping you should be using your own draws!

Comments: The unnamed 10b seemed more like 10+/11- to those of us who did it this past weekend. Long and in your face a lot. Take 16 draws or so.
