Comments: The approach being "steep and brushy" is for the area below Ridgeline not the Boneyard. The approach to the Boneyard is neither.

Comments: Hey 20KN I totally agree. We used to use them for a short time. Perhaps if you get some folks together to raise some funds and purchase quicklinks and Mussies or or chain and old carabiners those who did the work or some other local will fix them up as we do here on Mt. Lemmon.

Comments: Totally changes the finish on this very short route by negating the last move. Standard draw or trad draws not opened up and you would have to make the last move to the anchors before clipping. A good safe whipper can be taken if you fail to make the move to the clipping holds.

Comments: The screw gate on that locking biner was purposely diabled as people tend to lock them which is unnecessary. This leads to the gate bein stock in the locked postion. Rapping off of chains because a screw on a gate doesn't work or looks mangled seems way more dangerous than lowering off of a Mussy Hook and a biner that has a fully functioning gate. You might want to search dropped gear on this site.

Comments: Did this for the first time yesterday, the day after the CASA theclimbershome.com/ Adopt a Crag. Now I understand why everyone loves it so much. I did the original route that finishes on the left wall of the chimney which was nice as it involved no chimneying. Glad I had a photo of the topo to guide me along. www.facebook.com/toofasttopos

Comments: You can thank Jimbo for using up the best of them. Guys brain never stops thinking of them. We've probably forgotten a couple of hundred that just didn't quite work for a particular route.

Comments: This route had all the mixed metal bolts replaced on 12/20/15 with ASCA 1/2 inch Stainless Steel Rawl 5 Piece bolts. The Anchors were not mixed metal so we left them in place.

Comments: Those bolts are Rawl 5 Piece bolts and they can and sometimes become spinners. You can try with a 7/16ths wrench to tighten them. If you can tighten them down until snug do it just don't crank the crap out of them. Either way I would not worry about them. With luck the CASA A-Team will replace them at some point in the next year or two.

Comments: It isn't a 3-4 mile hike. If you stayed just off the highway where a passenger car can go it is only an hour and 15 minutes to the first cliffs. Add 15 to 25 minutes if you go to Tufa City or Marley Wall with a full pack. I say this with the caveat that you have to be in reasonable cardio shape. If you are there for multiple days bring a dry bag and stash your gear so you don't have to carry it every day then the hike is a breeze and unless you have been to Europe the limestone is fantastic and ... more >>
