Comments: See picture about being stranded in space. Awesome climb. I would suggest that Toast moves those anchors down to where the last bolt is. The consequences of someone lowering off the end of the rope are not worth another 10 feet of 5.7 climbing. This also would reduce rope drag while lowering. It is such a great route after pulling on to the upper wall I look forward to my next visit.

Comments: I did the FA. I am 5.6. I don't mind if someone adds a bolt between the ground and the first bolt. It does appear a lot of people have done it as is so I leave it to the locals to add or not add. We were more about having a good head then, safety came from being solid mentally.

Comments: BEES BEES BEES! Got on this route today and found that the abandoned hive about half way up now has a pack of new residents and the most beautiful honeycombs. I left a leaver biner and headed for dirt as fast as possible. Such a bummer as this route with the link-up is as good as they get.

Comments: Just did this route today and thought it was amazing. Only had one crumbly hold and a couple that were a little grainy. Super technical climbing through multiple overlaps.

Comments: I did two routes here in the 80s. One of them was right off the road at a picnic area and the other was well past the end of the road after crossing the river on the bridge. I should look in the notebook and post them up.

Comments: Thanks Jaspur. They don't always last at this canyon as a lot of new climbers don't understand they need to use their own draws when top-roping or that they are not booty. We all appreciate your contribution whatever happens.

Comments: If we did it now we would soften those holds a bit to make it more fun on the tips. Glad to see someone got on it. I was psyched doing the big move.

Comments: Thanks Brian. How did you like Farm Team? Is is better than the chimney? Can the people doing the chimney avoid those bolts? Which route would you rather do? Our goal, along with doing first ascents, at this never climbed crag, was to increase the number of moderates. As you know Mt. Lemmon is lacking in routes below 5.10 so I am constantly badgering Jim to do them when we find them.

Comments: Never had a gate and doesn't really need one if you are clipped into the carabiner as well. That is, of course if all you are doing is lowering off. If you are top-roping you should be using your own draws!

Comments: The unnamed 10b seemed more like 10+/11- to those of us who did it this past weekend. Long and in your face a lot. Take 16 draws or so.

Comments: A tongue in cheek statement as John had spent enough time climbing outside the area to know what a world class route was. Well worth doing if you can get well above your last bolt. Bolted from the ground up, on lead, by hand drill. Well bolted by old school standards.

Comments: The bottom of this is pretty grainy. If it got as much traffic as the upper wall routes do it would be a lot more fun. Very challenging at the grade. Stay left to get the upper headwall bolt clipped and it isn't too hard. Another bolt would be nice.

Comments: Four hours start to finish seems about right as I don't think you can walk to the top. Seems reasonable for a person who has put in a 10,000 less bolts than you and is just figuring it out. Final word, BOSONS SEAT!

Comments: This happens at the Forks as well. I always am careful on C&P at Jailhouse. Smooth sided cracks do not grip as well and cams pop out. I always try to find a place in a crack where there is a slight narrowing below the cam. This is not always possible but I take the extra time to try and find the absolute best spot. Increase the odds the gear stays in and you will avoid injuries. Glad you walked away from this.

Comments: It is a sick picture. Unfortunately the entire route is in the photo. It is about 20 feet long. That said it is supposed to be fun. I just haven't convinced myself to hike up there and do it.

Comments: Hey Jon, if you believe that people don't have to do it the way the FA did then do you think we should make every route safe. Is that what you are advocating for. Do you think all routes need to be drilled into submission just so you can climb them. Do you think that there are not enough mindless clip-ups for you and others who are unwilling to develop the mental fortitude to climb routes where failure can lead to serious injury and or death. Are you encouraging and supporting the destructio... more >>

Comments: Reefer Direct is the way to go. Way better than traversing the ledge. You could easily combine pitch two and three by placing gear in the horizontal you use to move left. A half dozen shoulder lengths will keep the rope drag down.

Comments: Bob Kerry and I did the first route on this cliff in the late 80's. It went up a weakness to the left of where the grass meets the rock at it's highest point. It was a chossy 2 pitch death romp that I lead fearing I would kill Bob and myself by knocking loose blocks on him. We rapped twice down the right of the North face and I remember thinking the line we rapped was clean and had some cool features. I thought it would make a fun route.
