Comments: I'm not sure, but I think that Stewart's comment about Ed aid-soloing the route was also written in the context of previous comments about how good the gear is the whole way - definitely does not deserve an R rating.

As a local Springs climber, I enjoy hearing and reading the historical radness that was taking place on a seemingly daily basis by the aforementioned group of hardmen. It's often inspirational, especially when puckering on loose, runout Garden sandstone!

Comments: The offwidth part is only hard if you stay deep in the crack. There are face features on the right side of the wide with ample flakes and foot ledges to get up without resorting to chicken wings and foot stacks.

Comments: I added descriptions and photos for The Eastern Front and The Fiend. Hope that helps avoid confusion.

Comments: Cracking route, Gromit. Thought this was maybe the best single pitch I did on this US trip. Hard to grade, as there isn't any really difficult move but it's all pretty sustained and surprisingly varied. Personally I found the wide finishing crack more awkward than the main hand/fist section. In the UK it would be rated HVS 5a and be considered a real classic.

Comments: Very nice OW climb. As for the grade, well, I realy can't say it has its tough parts and its easy parts....

Very nice climb and a good workout to boot.

Comments: The route might be 40 years old, but it's classic Turkey.

That's more than you can say for a bolted piece of poser fluff....

Very interesting climb that kicked my ass at the end of the day....

Comments: I enjoyed the route, didn't really know what I was getting into, but Jimmie Dunn said to try it so I did. Great moves, and a fun deep section.

Comments: Hi Jerry, I found your rappel anchor in Nov 2008 and cleaned it up. The descent from the top is kind of a hairy scramble.

Comments: I did this climb a while ago when I thought I was climbing gobblers grunt. It was hard to find the twin finger cracks above.... anyways, true to beta for gobblers grunt I traversed into the crack to the left right below the wide part. Interesting variation, I'm not sure if it avoids the hard part or not.

Comments: Harrison and I competed on this one. He got it a couple of days before I before I did. I'd think at the time, it might have been one of the harder routes of its type in the Platte. Super technical climbing, and in EBs no less. I was obsessed with the line, dragging non-climbing friends to belay me after class that Fall. There's a route at Chair Rocks that's very similar, and I got obsessed with that one as well a few years later.

Comments: This description seems to fit in with what I climbed and the topo from the Hubbel/Rolofson guidebook. If this isn't Brain Cramps then I don't know what is, because the climb right of it is too easy, the climb left is harder and there wouldn't be another climb between Brain Cramps and Satyr's Assholed but Straw Turkey is there. I think this is the right climb.

Comments: I thought the chimney to the top was harder than 5.7. Maybe it was all the gear or something else but it felt solid 5.8. There was a slung block in the middle where it really pinched down.

Comments: It's pretty funny that this is the only route at Turkey Tail not 3 letters harder than the grade. It felt like a 5.8. climbing is funny sometimes....

Comments: What an entertaining, historical bunch of comments. I think the funniest is that it's rated F. Isn't it a continuous splitter in bulletproof granite. Anyway, as far as sandbagging goes, I love to bag with the best, but man did I get schooled trying this route for the first time. I did warm up on Whimsical Dreams and never recovered, or so I tried. To boot, I was climbing with a guy who made it look like it was 5.9. He climbs cracks as much as I work and I unfortunately work two jobs...a brillian... more >>

Comments: We were very happy having up to a #6 Camalot.

How is this a "hand and fist crack"? Did your hands get stung by bees and swell up before you got on this climb? The crack leading up to the traverse is mainly fists to offwidth, with a few hand jams to be found.
