This is Tabula Rasa, but the climber to the right is at the top of The Hot Zone. This might be useful when trying to find this climb, as Tabula Rasa is super easy to recognize.

You can see the top of Tabula Rasa, but also somebody nearing the top of the Hot Zone in the Catacombs.

Comments: I agree with Matthew about camping at the Monastery. It can be a mess. The problem stems from non-local kids from Loveland that come up and party.

I have lived up there for 7 years and every year the "Locals" clean up the entire access road and Monastery campground at our own cost,(Kent Mt Adv's/Access Fund also does a cleanup at the campground later in the year). Also keep in mind that Storm Mountain Road is a privately maintained road and any improvements/maintainance are paid for by the comm... more >>

Comments: The 10c to the right of Alter Boy (not sure what it is called) could use some quick links installed (I did not have any on me). As of July it was a mess of sun bleached cord and webbing, that would be easiest to cut off. Hopefully whoever cleans it up gets the newish Petzel D biner I left at the top!

Comments: I had a great time climbing at the Monastery in July, but I would not recommend camping there (particularly if you are in a small group).

Several things made me uneasy about the area when I was there for a three day period. One guy camping by himself (appearing and disappearing at odd hours) and traffic from binge drinking parties - this has been mentioned above. One of the parties got out of hand and was like nothing I have seen in 10 years of back-country camping. I will spare the details, b... more >>

Comments: Climbed with my brother thinking we were on No Mystery Here, and that it was the hardest 5.7 we'd ever seen. When it gets hardest, I think the key was reaching around on your left to some great hand holds around the bulge. The ground slopes up steep on the right, so if you rappel to the side, you're good. We found our 60m rope had us both on the ground without an inch to spare.

Comments: The mental crux is getting to the first bolt, or the second to last bolt - which feels hard to clip and way out there by the time you get to it. I wouldn't say this is sustained though. Lots of rests and easy climbing on this one - just stay a little left of the bolts. The bolts seemed to be oddly placed - forcing the line away from natural features. A LOT of Easy fun climbing to be had here, but nothing spectacular.

Comments: The crux is tough, I'd agree 10a. But it's not a sustained route. Good and varied!

Comments: I couldn't get this one even on toprope, and while I'm not in good condition right now I'd say this has to be at least an easy 11. Bailing left below the crux will yeild a difficulty of around 8 - 10a (depending on your exit) in my book. The route was fun but the crux seemed out of character with the rest of the climb and it seemed better to go left anyways.
