If you link P1/2 up to the wide section, you will need to run things out unless you brought 4-5 hand sized cams.

Comments: We lucked out on this climb with an abnormally cool day in June. There wasn't another soul in the whole canyon. It was overcast most of the day, which had me a bit worried with only one rope (and just the previous weekend we had an epic bail in a Sierra snowstorm) but it didn't rain a drop. I think we poured out a whole liter of water on the summit, and still had some in our bottles when we got back to the car.

Comments: According to local lore, the pitch 6 "variation" (12b, AO) was the original route put up by Conz and Rosholt. Even after repeated attempts it would not go free for them. Apparently other local hardmen have tried to free this pitch, to no avail. Conz reportedly does not know who is responsible for the pitch 7 (5.11c) variation. This variation to the route, which is now the more commonly attempted way, is accessed by climbing a pitch of the Texas Tower connection, which is pitch 6 in the descrip... more >>

Comments: This climb definitely feels harder than 10a! I did Amber(10c) which has the same start and goes left at the hand crack. Wholesome Fullback felt MUCH harder by comparison. Though I think I did it a harder way. The crux was right after the traverse. I descended with two 60m's and it took two rap stations of the three to get to the ground. Maybe to 70's would get you there in one go, though I doubt it.

Comments: The dirt road is fine. We did it in 20 miuntes in a tiny economy rental car in October 2009. Just go slow.

Comments: Be ready for loose stuff beyond the ledges. My wife pulled a chunk as large as her torso off this one. This along with the descent from the route makes you forget that the climbing is actually pretty good.

I used two cams as directionals for the second and stoppers exclusively for protection. Solid placements the entire way.
