Mountain Project Terms of Use

Your use of the Mountain Project web site constitutes your binding acceptance of these terms as well as your acceptance of Mountain Project's Privacy Policy.


1. Member Responsibility for Content Posted on Mountain Project.

All data, descriptions, photographs, text, captions, posts or other materials ("Content"), posted on Mountain Project are the sole responsibility of the person who uploaded such content. This means that you are responsible for all Content that you upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available via Mountain Project. Although we maintain the right to review, edit and remove Content from Mountain Project in our sole discretion, we do not control the Content that is uploaded onto Mountain Project and, as such, we do not guarantee the accuracy, integrity or quality of such Content. Under no circumstances will Mountain Project be liable in any way for any Content, including, but not limited to, the subject matter of any Content, any errors or omissions in any Content, or for any loss, injury, or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any Content available via Mountain Project.


2. Grant of License.

When you post Content to Mountain Project you grant Mountain Project, its affiliates and partners, a worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free, nonexclusive, sub licensable license to use, reproduce, create derivative works of, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display, transfer, transmit, distribute and publish that Content for the purposes of displaying that Content on Mountain Project. This license shall apply to the distribution and the storage of Your Content in any form, medium, or technology now known or later developed.


3. Content Review, Removal, and Modification.

By submitting Content to Mountain Project, you authorize future modifications of the Content by administrators, moderators, and other users. Content submitted to Mountain Project may be examined at any time and we maintain the absolute right (but not the obligation) to remove or change Content for any reason or no reason, at any time, with or without notice.


4. Your Use of Mountain Project Content

In addition to posting your own Content on Mountain Project, you can also view and print any Content on Mountain Project for your own personal, non-commercial use. The Mountain Project site includes a combination of Content that we license from third party partners and Content that is created and posted by our users. All of the Content on the Mountain Project site are protected by our copyrights, the copyrights of our partners and/or the copyrights of the user who posted such materials. You may not modify, publish, transmit, participate in the transfer or sale of, reproduce, create derivative works of, distribute, publicly perform, publicly display or in any way exploit any of the Content on the Mountain Project site in whole or in part outside of the specific usage rights granted to you from within the Mountain Project Community. You agree to use Mountain Project only for its intended, lawful purposes and in accordance with all applicable laws. You agree not to use Mountain Project in any manner that interferes with its normal operation or with any other user's use and enjoyment thereof. You further agree that you will not access Mountain Project by any means except through the interface provided by Mountain Project and that you will not access Mountain Project from any territory where its contents are illegal.


5. Mountain Project Membership

Mountain Project membership is available to anyone 13 years of age or older who truthfully and accurately registers all required information (including a legitimate email address) and obtains a unique Mountain Project Username and Password. Mountain Project is not intended as a service for children and therefore persons under the age of 13 may not become a member.


6. Responsibility for Maintaining Your Privacy

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and password and for restricting access to your computer, and you agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or password. Furthermore, you are strongly advised to maintain and protect your privacy by choosing carefully what personally identifiable information you include in Content you post on Mountain Project.


7. Reporting Content Violations

If you believe that any Content on Mountain Project violates your copyright you can report such violation using the Contact Us link on every page on Mountain Project. It is often difficult to determine if your intellectual property rights have been violated. We may request additional information before we remove any infringing material. If a dispute develops as to the correct owner of the rights in question, we reserve the right to remove your content along with that of the alleged infringer pending resolution of the matter.


8. Climbing is Dangerous

You could be seriously injured or die when climbing. Mountain Project recommends you receive professional climbing instruction. Content on Mountain Project may be inaccurate or outdated, and Moutain Project makes no claims to the accuracy of any Content. Mountain Project is not responsible for any loss or injury resulting from inaccurate data.
